Prism’s History

Founded in 1983 by Steve Van, Prism Hotels and Resorts has grown into one of the largest and most respected owner, operator and developer of upscale, upper-upscale and luxury hotels and resorts throughout the Americas and the Caribbean. Prism began with a small group of partners, building, buying and repositioning well-known landmark luxury hotels in Texas. With properties like The Houstonian Hotel, the Melrose Hotel in Dallas, and the Westchase Hilton Hotel in Houston, Prism began to establish itself as one of the premier boutique developers and operators in the industry.

In the late 90s, Prism forged a partnership with the Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities industry. As the industry’s “Hotel Experts,” Prism grew to manage over 115 hotels throughout North America.
